SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) – Time is running out for Illinois residents interested in running for Congress.
The State Board of Elections says the deadline to submit paperwork for getting on the primary ballot is 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Next year’s races for the U.S. House could be dramatic. Democrats have redrawn district boundaries to make re-election difficult for several Republican incumbents.
Republicans challenged the new districts in court but failed to have them overturned. The court battle forced state election officials to postpone the original deadline for petitions to get on the ballot.
