Dellwood Tries For Another Vote Tonight on Dissolving the Police Department

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The City of Dellwood will once again try this evening to hold a budget meeting and take a vote on dissolving the police department.

Leading up to tonight’s meeting, three other meetings had to be postponed because four aldermen boycotted disbanding the Dellwood Police Department and contracting with Saint Louis County Police.

Whether or not there will be a quorum tonight to vote remains to be seen. Dellwood’s Attorney Donnell Smith filed a writ against the boycotting aldermen.  Now, a judge has ruled they have until tomorrow to present their case. That writ is an order that forces public officials to perform their duties as mandated.

St. Louis County Police supervisors have already been over-seeing the day-to-day operation of the police department. The Dellwood police chief remains on administrative paid leave.
