3 Die in Missouri Traffic Accidents Over Holiday

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Missouri State Highway Patrol says three people died in traffic accidents over the Christmas holiday travel period.

A 58-year-old man was struck and fatally injured Friday night as he walked along a street in Springfield. On Sunday, a 41-year-old woman died when she drove off the road and hit an embankment near Lebanon, Mo., and a 59-year-old Camdenton woman was killed when the car she was driving struck another vehicle in Camden County.

The Highway Patrol says it responded to 213 traffic accidents throughout Missouri from 6 p.m. Friday through 11:59 p.m. Monday. Sixty-seven injuries resulted from those accidents, and troopers arrested 56 people on suspicion of drunken driving.
