ST. LOUIS (KMOX) –  Drivers may be doing double-takes as they pass area gas stations this morning.

Pump prices shot up anywhere between 20 to 28-cents-a-gallon Wednesday.

That means drivers in the St. Louis area are paying around $3.29 for regular and those in the Metro East are looking at an average of $3.49, and there is no fuel in the region available for under three bucks a gallon according to the website www.stlouisgasprices.com.

A jump in crude oil and wholesale gas prices are to blame for the sudden rise.
