ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOX) – MoDOT officials are pushing back the start of work on the Blanchette Bridge by a day.
They’ll now start utility work on the eastbound span on Monday at 8 pm.
The work is being done to porepare for the upcoming major rehabilitation work scheduled to begin on the westbound I-70 Blanchette Bridge later this year.
The date for the start of that project has not yet been determined.
The current work will move utilities off the westbound bridge and place them on the eastbound side.
The January 9-12 work will include the following closures:
Monday through Thursday nights, one lane closed eastbound I-70 at 8 pm until 5 am.
A second lane and both of the 5th Street ramps to eastbound I-70 will close at 9 pm.
Similar nightly lane closures on the bridge could occur each week, Sunday through Thursday nights, weather permitting until late March.
The 5th Street ramp closures will be limited to less than two weeks total.
When the 5th Street ramps to eastbound I-70 are closed, motoristws will be detoured to use Veterans Parkway (the south outer road) west to the Route 94/First Capitol Drive interchange to access eastbound I-70.
