Gold Business Still Booming in Missouri

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — As businesses tally up the holiday spending, one industry can point to continued growth. Gold buying.

Thursday, gold closed just over $1,600 an ounce — up $7.50. That’s one reason St. Louis area residents continue to dig through their jewelry and sell it.

Mike Duke, owner of Missouri Gold Buyers which is currently undergoing an expansion describes December as busy. The main reason: money for Christmas presents.

Duke says his customer base is diverse but the average person who sells gold is usually a woman between the ages of 35 and 55. His advice to those who might want to sell; shop around and be an informed consumer.
