ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — The first significant snowfall of the season couldn’t have come at a worst time. Thursday as morning rush hour began so did the first snowflakes that quickly created slick sheen of ice on most road and interstates throughout Illinois and Missouri.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Cpl. Jeff Wilson says the patrol’s St. Louis-area office had received about 250 calls about accidents and slide-offs by late morning.
Illinois State Police have released numbers showing just how busy they were. District 11 headquartered in Collinsville handled 125 weather-related incident between 5 and 10 a.m., most involving fender-benders or cars sliding off into ditches.
They did respond to eight crashes that involved injuries.
