WEBSTER GROVES, MO. (KMOX) – Flames consumed an apartment complex late Monday night in the 7800 block of Big Bend in Webster Groves.
“You heard the glass shattering and all you could see was orange flames,” said Kenny Bollwerk, who was alerted to the blaze when a neighbor pounded on his door. “It was huge, like an explosion.
The fire broke out around 10:30 p.m. at the White Bluff Apartments.
Fire officials later said that two people had suffered smoke inhalation and one had minor burns.
“My understanding is their injuries were minor,” Webster Groves Fire Chief Mike Capriglione told KMOX News.
A new of the apartment units were destroyed.
No cause has been determined.

A two alarm fire in wWbster groves Monday night. It’s at the White Bluffs Apartment Complex at 7864 Big Bend.
Firefighters from Webster Groves, University City, Crestwood and Kirkwood are on the scene. One person was taken out of the apartment building on a stretcher but was waving to neighbors as he was being put in an ambulance. The fire was put out quickly. No cause has been determined.
KMOX’s Michael Calhoun is on the scene and says one woman in the complex saved her hampster from flames.
