ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – As Cardinals president Bill DeWitt III aptly put it to me at the White House yesterday, this was the “cherry on top.”
The celebration of the Cardinals’ 2011 World Championship made the customary stop at the residence of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, who celebrated her birthday honoring the St. Louis franchise’s 11th title. Or as President Obama called it: “the greatest comeback team in the history of baseball.”
From their visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, to their tour of the White House, to the presidential ceremony in the East Room. It was a day that we’ll hold close to us forever.
Here is the brief audio tour — aired this morning at 8:15 on Total Information A.M. – featuring the President and Mrs. Obama, and my interviews with World Series MVP David Freese, general manager John Mozeliak and a wounded veteran at Walter Reed.
Thanks for listening…
