Pair Charged In Granite City Man’s Drug Death

GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KMOX) –  A man and woman from Granite City are now charged with supplying the drugs that killed a man in late November.

Originally, 28-year-old Cory Armbruster and 30-year-old Becky Chandler had been arrested on charges of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, but autopsy results finalized this week showed that 48-year-old William J. Smith died of Acute Fentanyl Intoxication.

Smith was found dead at his home on Division St. in Granite City on the morning of November 29th, with several empty fentanyl packages lying nearby.

Investigators eventually determined that Chandler had supplied the fentanyl to Armbruster, who sold it to Smith.

Bond for both defendants was set at $100,000.
