Police Shoot, Kill Armed Man In North St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A confrontation with police turned deadly for a man in north St. Louis.
It happened late last night as patrolling officers noticed a man carrying a handgun near West Florissant and Thrush Avenue.
According to reports, the man pointed his gun as officers as they approached, and then ran from the scene. Officers chased the suspect and opened fire when he once again pointed the weapon at them.
Dozens of shots were fired and eventually the suspect was struck and killed.
His name hasn’t been released.
Police believe the man may have been in the process of getting ready to rob a nearby market when they officers spotted him.
No police officers were injured, although one shot fired by the suspect did reportedly pass through the pants leg of one officer.
