Police Officer Rescued from River

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A St. Louis Police Office had to be rescued from the Mississippi River tonight when his squad car slid on the cobblestones.

KMOV TV reports he was responding to a call about a man in a van , which also was sliding down the cobblestones near the Arch grounds.

The van got hung-up on some driftwood and did not go into the water.

Both the officer and the van driver were rescued unharmed, but crews had to use rope to pull them to safety.
