David Eckstein Retires

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The 2006 World Series MVP for the St. Louis Cardinals is hanging up his cleats.

According to a report in the Boston Globe, 37-year-old David Eckstein has decided to retire from baseball.

The infielder says he declined offers from several teams to attend Spring Training on a minor league contract.

Eckstein played for St. Louis and four other teams during his ten-year major league career.
