VENICE, Il. (KMOX)-Tips from the public are being credited with helping federal marshals track down and arrest a man wanted for a Venice, Illinois home invasion/murder at a Florissant motel.
26-year-old Michael Fedrick was arrested this morning at the Red Roof Inn on Dunn Road.
Fedrick and 25-year-old Russell Battle, both of St. Louis, allegedly invaded a Venice home on December 9th to commit a robbery. Their two intended victims fought back…and during the ensuing gun battle all four were wounded.
Battle died at the scene. Fedrick fled and later showed up at a hospital, where after undergoing surgery, he ran off with his leg still in an air splint.
Fedrick is being held in Missouri pending extradition to Madison County, Il where he faces 21 felonies, including multiple counts of first degree murder, home invasion, armed robbery and residential burglary. His bond has been set at $1 million.
