Tax Prep For Free In St. Louis

Brad Choat

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – As a way of helping St. Louisans reach untapped earned income tax credits, or EITCs, a local public-private group is offering free tax preparation from now until Tax Day, April 17th.

Director Russ Signorino says the offer is good to anyone making less than $50,000 per year, “If your income is so low that a $250 preparation fee is a lot of money, why not get it done for free? See if you qualify for any of those credits, and have Uncle Sam send you a check.”

Signorino says last year, his group filed more than 13,200 tax returns, totaling more than $16.9 million.

The EITC returns reached $5.5 million.

Signorino says the best way to set up an appointment for the free tax prep is by calling the United Way’s 211 public assistance phone line.
