St. Louis-Area Hospitals Reach Deal with Insurers

ST. LOUIS (AP) – Two St. Louis-area hospitals have reached an agreement with HealthLink Inc. and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Missouri, ending uncertainty for thousands of patients.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Saint Louis University and Des Peres hospitals announced the new four-year agreement on Wednesday. The contract sets medical reimbursement rates and terms of service between the insurers and the two hospitals owned by Tenet Healthcare Corp. of Dallas.

Negotiations have been going on for months, creating concern for patients, especially some undergoing cancer and transplant patients who worried about whether they would need to transfer to other hospitals.
