MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. (AP) – A suburban St. Louis police officer is recovering from minor injuries after he was hurt trying to stop a motorist from fleeing.
It happened Thursday night in Maryland Heights. Police say the uniformed officer was working security in his off hours at a restaurant when he approached four young people who had been denied entry.
When they got into a vehicle to try and leave, the officer tried to hang onto their car but was thrown from it. He declined immediate treatment.
Police say the driver dropped off two women before crashing along Interstate 70. The driver and another man were arrested after a foot chase.
Names of the suspects and the officer have not been released.
