Lewis Black Lays It on the Line at The Peabody
A little over 3,000 people braved the rain and a capacity house at the Blues game Friday night to share a cynical evening of full-out comedy angst, Lewis Black style, at the beautiful Peabody Opera House. Previous appearances by Lewis Black in St. Louis have been at the Pageant and The Fox.
Fresh from an engagement in Columbia on Thursday night, the star of Comedy Central and concert venues around the world proved once again that he is the master of understanding and expressing the bewildering world we live in. Politics, religion, society, social networking and much more all fell to shreds under the frenetic, frank and very funny persona that is Lewis Black.
Black has a following that is loyal and constantly growing. His ability to express our frustrations with an unbridled comedy power is his biggest appeal. He makes knowing the world is practically hopeless bearable.
Lewis Black’s tour continues in Cincinnati Saturday night. After each show, Black comes to the lobby to sign autographs and pose for pictures. It’s one of the few times he’ll smile all night.
But that’s OK. You’ll be smiling….and laughing…the entire evening.
