Election Returns

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOX) – A paltry 23-percent of registered voters are expected to turn out for today’s Missouri primary, but one Republican trying to make up ground on the front-runners is working to grab as many of those votes as he can.

Supporters of GOP hopeful Rick Santorum will gather tonight at the Convention Center to watch returns roll in.

Hogan Gidley, Santorum’s national communications director, see momentum building for his candidate. “For the first time in the state of Missouri we have a head to head match up with Mitt Romney.”

Mitt Romney hopes his presidential campaign hasn’t ignored Rick Santorum’s aggressive attacks for too long. Santorum largely bypassed Florida and Nevada to blanket the two caucus states with criticism of Romney and lay the groundwork among conservatives who have great sway in the process.

“I think that Santorum’s going to have a pretty good day,” Gingrich told reporters on the eve of the caucuses. “He targeted differently than I did. I stayed in Florida to fight it out. … He took the same amount of time and energy and he came to Minnesota and Missouri and Colorado. For him, that was the right decision.”

Santorum will arrive at the Grant Ballroom in St. Charles Convention Center sometime after 8:30 p.m. Doors open for guests at 6:30 p.m.
