ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – St. Louis soccer legend Harry Keough, widely regarded as the most influential person in this city’s tradition-rich soccer community, died early Tuesday morning at the age of 84.
A member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame, Mr. Keough was a defender on the 1950 U.S. World Cup team that defeated England, 1-0. It’s considered by many to be the greatest upset in the history of soccer.
As the head coach at Saint Louis University from 1967-1982, Mr. Keough guided the Billikens to five national championships.
