Bank Teller Charged With Stealing $7,000 From Employer

MADISON COUNTY, Ill. (KMOX) – A teller at a bank in Edwardsville is accused of going home at night with a little something extra in her pockets — cash from her money drawer.
Madison County Sheriff’s officials say that between November 1st of last year and January 20th, Lori Surgant of Edwardsville stole more than $7,000 from the bank.
The thefts reportedly occurred during her normal shifts as a teller at the First National Bank of Staunton on St. James Road in Edwardsville.
Surgant, 51, was taken into custody at her home early Monday and she’s now being held on $25,000 bond on a felony charge of theft over $500.
