Guilty Verdict in Pontoon Beach Murder Case

EDWARDSVILLE, IL. (KMOX) – A Pontoon Beach man was found guilty of murder last night by a Madison County Jury.

31 year old Marcus Powell was on trial for the shooting death of 12 year old DeLarrian Davis.

The boy was doing homework in his home in Madison when shots were fired into his home.

Prosecutors say the intended target was the boy’s mother, Sophia Campbell and his step-father Kevin Campbell.

It took the jury nine hours to reach a guilty verdict for First Degree Murder and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.

Powell could get up to 75 years in prison.

Prosecutors in Madison County say a sentencing date will be announced after completion of a pre-sentencing investigation.
