Doctors See Surge in Flu Cases

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – Missouri health officials say they’re seeing regional flu activity throughout the state, as the St. Louis are find itself in the midst of the peak weeks for influenza.

Officials with the St. Louis County Health Department report 157 new influenza cases in the past week.

That’s up from 123 new cases the week before.

The total for the season so far is 437 in St. Louis County.

Statewide, health officials saw 791 new cases last week — for a season total of nearly three thousand. That may seem like a lot, but it’s actually down 70 percent from previous years.

We’re still in the midst of the peak time for the flu in this area and doctors say its still not too late to get that shot.
