Arrest Made In Troy, Mo. Kidnapping

NORMAL, Ill. (AP)-  A 22-year-old Missouri man has been arrested in Illinois after allegedly forcing his ex-girlfriend into the trunk of her car and driving off.

Jon Heinz of Elsberry, Mo., was arrested in central Illinois Thursday after the alleged kidnapping attempt near Troy, Mo. He’s being held at the McLean County Jail on kidnapping charges and is awaiting extradition to Missouri.

Lincoln County, Mo., Maj. Kurt Venneman says the 19-year-old victim was driving when she noticed that her trunk was open. When she pulled over to close it, Heinz allegedly jumped out, forced her inside and drove off.

A witness saw the incident and called police. The victim escaped after Heinz stopped at a gas station.

Authorities say Heinz’s father lives in Illinois. It wasn’t immediately clear whether he has an attorney.
