FLORISSANT, Mo. (KMOX) - A longtime Florissant restaurant went up in flames, early Sunday.
A section of roof of the Halls Ferry Inn Jazz Cafe collapsed in the blaze, which broke out at about 1:30am.
Black Jack Fire Protection District Captain Roger Ellison says firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading into the music store that adjoins the restaurant, “We sent some crews into the music house to check for extension, to check the attic. We believe there’s a firewall that separates the music house from the cafe, that kept the fire from spreading over there. It helped us out quite a bit.”
Ellison says no one was in the restaurant when the fire broke out. The cause is under investigation.
