ELLISVILLE (KMOX) – The mother who left her newborn boy in an Ellisville front yard last week surrendered to police early Monday.

The 19-year-old, whose name isn’t being released, had been in the hospital, and was interviewed by detectives around noontime Monday, then was arrested and booked on charges of abandoning a child and endangering the welfare of a child.

The baby boy was left in a yard in the 100 block of Westridge Parc. Formal charges are expected from the St. Louis County Prosecutor later this week.
