ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — A St. Louis woman gets 17 years in prison for a multi-million dollar fraud.
Stephen Wigginton is the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois. KMOX asked him what was Victoria McGee-Harris doing with the victims six million dollars. His response? “She was stealing it.”
Wigginton says McGee-Harris, was a licenses insurance agent and securities broker with Tower Square, a MetLife company, took clients money for investment products but never bought them for her clients. She gave some clients fake statements.
“She also sometimes just refused to produce the documents when the customers requested the,” Wigginton explained. “She was quite overbearing.”
McGee-Harris bought homes, cars, real estate and even three clothing stores in Chesterfield, Ladue and Clayton that all failed.
The good news is that because she worked for MetLife, the company helped in the investigaiton and has give all 50 victims their money back.
