As part of the celebration of its 90th year in operation, the venerable Hi Pointe Theater began a classic film series late last year that continues in 2012. The Hi Pointe is located at 1005 McCausland.
The next attraction in the series is “The Quiet Man” starring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara. The film, from 1952, is directed by John Ford and is a love story shot on location in Ireland. It also features the fine character actor Barry Fitzgerald.
There will be two showings of “The Quiet Man.” The dates are Tuesday March 6th at 1:30 pm and Saturday March 10th at 10:30 am. Admission price is $5 per person. I will be introducing the film on March 10th.
The current regular attraction at The Hi Pointe is “The Artist,” a film with 10 Oscar nominations that is the front-runner for best picture. The Oscars will be given out Sunday evening the 26th.
The Hi Pointe features digital sound and projection, and a new state-of-the-art screen. For more information, click on the link below.
