ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — Thieves breaking into dozens of cars, target Lambert Field and The Renaissance Saint Louis Hotel, along Natural Bridge overnight.
As KMOX reported this morning, thieves broke in to more than a dozen cars at an American Airlines employee parking lot near the airport. And now, Berkeley Police Chief Frank McCall Junior tells KMOX, around 50 cars, on the hotel’s secured parking lot had windows smashed and items stolen. McCall believes the break-ins at the airport and hotel are related.
“There’s a strong possibility came to the hotel location in Berkeley first, left there, and then went to the airport,” McCall said. “So we’re looking at all this happening after midnight this morning in our opinion.”
McCall says several of the Renaissance Hotel victims have not been notified yet, because police can’t locate them.
Police did recover a stolen white van near the airport, that investigators believe was used by the car thieves. Authorities are reviewing hotel surveillance video and hope that will shed some light on how the thieves penetrated the secured hotel parking lot.
