Continuing what looks to be an effort to book big name Broadway and musical talent to star in Muny attractions, Muny Executive Producer Mike Isaacson has announced that Leslie Uggams will star as Muzzy in the Muny’s 2012 production of “Thoroughly Modern Mille,” which will be on stage June 8 to the 24th.

Uggams joined the Broadway cast of “Millie” in that role in 2003.

The multi-talent actress began her career at the age of 9 performing at the famed Apollo Theater. She is best known on Broadway for winning a Tony and a Theater World Award for “Hallelujah, Baby.” Ms. Uggams also performed the role of “Kizzy” in Alex Haley’s landmark television series, “Roots.”
