ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOX) – One person has died in an early morning apartment fire in north St. Louis County.

Riverview Fire Protection District Chief Joe Bommarito says the fire broke out shortly after 5:00 AM in a unit at the Ridgeview Apartments in the 9600 block of Diamond Drive.  It took about 15 minutes to bring it under control.

Bommarito says the victim was an adult man.

He won’t speculate on the cause of death, but says the damage was confined to the kitchen.  He says all indications are the cause was unattended cooking.
