Charges in Abandoned Baby Case

ELLISVILLE, Mo. (KMOX) – A 19-year-old woman has been charged after police say she abandoned her child last week.
Kaitlin Norton of west St. Louis County, stands accused of one count of abandonment of a child and also endangering the welfare of a child.
Norton had turned herself in to police yesterday. Ellisville Police Chief Tom Felgate says she was arrested after being questioned by detectives. “We knew who she was and she had been hospitalized with post childbirth issues and we just allowed her enough time to recover from that,” Felgate said.
The baby boy was found in a side yard in the 100 block of Westridge Parc February 16th. A woman in the neighborhood say a blanket moving, thought it was a litter of puppies and called police.
The child is now in the custody of the state and is reportedly in good health.
