PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (KMOX) –  If you find yourself taking a long time to feel fully awake once your alarm clock goes off, you’re not alone.

Missouri ranks near the top of the list of the “Most Sleep Deprived States”.

KMOX Health Editor Fred Bodimer reports that a study by the University of Pennsylvania puts the Show-Me State at #7 on that list.

One-in-four Missouri residents claim to have sleep disturbances and daytime fatigue.

Mississippi is the most sleep deprived state with 30% of residents claiming they have trouble staying awake.

We don’t know where Illinois stands because officials there didn’t return the necessary information to be included in the Penn U. study.

Researchers there, however, say that states like Missouri that experience the most fatigue-related problems also tend to rate high for other health issues, such as obesity.
