FLORISSANT, Mo. (KMOX) - Powerful storms began sweeping through the KMOX listening area early Friday morning.
One caller to KMOX, who identified herself only as Diane, actually held her phone out the front door of her Florissant home, where sharp cracks could be heard as hail pelted down.
She said it was piling up quickly.
“My yard, the street, driveways…they’re totally white here,” she explained. “My subdivision’s covered in pea-to-nickel sized hail.”
She said she wouldn’t be surprised if insurance companies start receiving calls once the storm’s moved on this morning with reports of damage to roofs, siding and car windshields.
A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 7 o’clock Friday morning for St. Louis city and county.
