Sports on a Sunday Morning: MVC, Spring Training, Kevin Demoff & Dan Reardon

The Missouri Valley Conference tournament concludes at Scottrade Center this afternoon.  Tom Ackerman, who’s been covering the tourney, joins Ron Jacober in studio to discuss the 2012 version of ‘Arch Madness’ that saw top seed Wichita State upended by Illinois State on Saturday.  If the Redbirds beat Creighton in the championship, then the MVC would probably have three teams in the NCAA Tournament.

Kevin Wheeler has the day off down in Jupiter at Cardinals spring training along with just about everyone else since the rain is falling. Monday, also tomorrow, is hopefully the first Grapefruit League game against the Miami Marlins at Roger Dean Stadium. Ron catches up with Kevin, who will be in his third week of covering the Redbirds from what is usually sunny Florida.

Though spring training is in full swing, the MVC Tourney has invaded St. Louis, and the Blues had one of the best road trips in franchise history, the biggest headlines of the week probably belonged to the St. Louis Rams with trade scenarios, rejection of the CVC plan, and now defensive coordinator Gregg Williams being caught for the use of a ‘bounty program’. Rams VP of Football Operations/COO Kevin Demoff joins Ron.

Would you recognize Luke Donald, the #1 ranked golfer in the world? A fair question posed by Ron Jacober and KMOX Golf Editor Dan Reardon. Like baseball, golf is being slowed down this day due to rain in Florida. While talking about Donald and Rory McIlroy, Dan also gives a scoop about a possible tournament coming to the area.
