CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) - Authorities have identified a body found in a diversion channel near Cape Girardeau as a man missing since Jan. 15.

Cape Girardeau County Coroner John Clifton identified the body as 59-year-old Bobby Ray Hennecke of Cape Girardeau.

Hennecke’s body was found Monday at the inlet to the channel at the Cape Girardeau/Scott County line.

The Southeast Missourian reports that the 59-year-old Hennecke was last seen after going to church and watching football with a friend Jan. 15. Family members and police had been looking for him since then without success.

Police are still investigating the cause of death. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
