CARLYLE, Ill. (KMOX) - Residents in and around Carlyle Illinois are being told to keep a cautious eye out for three inmates who escaped from the Bond County Jail early Thursday.
The sheriff’s department announced on its Facebook page that James Hickman, Brian Wilt, and Joshua Frith broke out around 1:30 am.
The apparently attacked an officer as he approached their cell, knocking him to the ground before running through an unlocked maintenance door at the rear of the prison.
The three fugitives reportedly stole a car near Greenville around 4:30 am, and that vehicle was spotted in Carlyle a short time later.
Two of them, Joshua Frith and James Hicks were than captured around 8 Thursday morning in Indiana.
They’re being held for extradition back to Carlyle.
A search continues for Wilt.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call the Bond County sheriff’s department at (618) 594-4555.
Hickman was being held on sex abuse charges, Frith on drug charges, and Wilt for forgery.
