ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) - The Center for Disease Control’s new Flu View map shows the amount of flu virus activity in each state.
Right now, Missouri is the only state colored in red, meaning it has the highest amount of flu activity, surrounded by states with much less of the virus being reported. CDC Spokesman Tom Skinner says it’s probably random.
“It’s not unlikely to see an ebb and flow in our flu season,” Skinner said.
He added that there have been a high number of vaccinations, so possibly the strand in Missouri isn’t one included in the vaccine. The numbers in Missouri are not alarmingly high, and overall it’s been a mild flu season.
As always, hand washing and staying home when you’re sick are two of the best ways to prevent the flu from spreading.
