Man Killed, Homes Fired On in East St. Louis

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KMOX) – An East St. Louis man is dead, and the homes of the suspect’s relatives are shot up in a morning of violence.

East St. Louis Police Chief Michael Floore tells KMOX News  23-year-old Steven Holmes of East St. Louis was shot around four Sunday morning outside a bar in the 100 block of Collinsville Avenue.  He later died at a local hospital.

Floore says after the shooting, shots were fired at four homes, believed to be those of the suspect’s relatives.  No one was hurt in those incidents.

Floore says Illinois State Police and several other agencies were called in for crowd control.  He says they are still early in the investigation and he has no motive at this time for the killing of Holmes.
