U.S. Mortgage Settlement = Money For Missourians

Maria Keena

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMOX) – Attorney General Chris Koster wants to make sure Missourians know about the national mortgage settlement.

Koster says staffers will be heading out to each of the state’s 114 counties and holding town hall meetings on the subject of getting funds to people who lost their homes to foreclosure and the ability to re-finance.

He says $156 million is available, “If you’ve been foreclosed upon by one of the five big banks in the agreement, you may get a check for about $2000. There’s another large chunk of money—about $85 million — that’s set aside for homeowners in trouble and in need of adjusting mortgages or some type of re-financing.”

The five big banks are: Bank of America, Citigroup, J.P. Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo, and Ally Financial (GMAC).
