SPRINGFIELD, IL. (AP) – There was a problem with Election returns in Illinois Tuesday night.
“The ballots were too wide” said Rupert Bourgsmiller, executive director of the Illinois State Board of Elections.
They were too wide for the electronic scanning machines.
The problem was reported in more than sixty counties including Bond and Macoupin in Southern Illinois. However most of the problems were in Northern counties.
The votes were counted, but they had to be counted by election officials and that delayed a lot of results.
