Two Accused of Stealing Grease From St. Louis Restaurants

SOLARD, Mo. (KMOX) — Two men accused of stealing grease from two Soulard restaurants over the weekend have been identified.

The City of St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office issued a warrant for Theft/Stealing against 21 year-old Bryon Aston and 21 year-old Landon Thomas.

Police say an officer working at John D. McGurk’s Pub saw a grease truck near the business and two men illegally removing the grease. The officer was able to curb the vehicle and take pair into custody during the early morning hours Saturday.

Police say the men also stole grease from Tucker’s Place in Soulard.

Thefts involving used cooking oil are on the rise nationally, driven by the increase in gas prices.

Thieves often convert the grease into bio-diesel fuel.
