ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The tornado at Lambert Airport’s Concourse C, nearly a year ago. But Monday morning it reopens.
Airport Spokesman Jeff Lea says repairing the ceiling, windows and interior cost more than the original estimate of 35-million and could run to 50-million, but insurance will cover all but several thousand dollars. He says when Monday comes, passengers will see a bonus.
“While the concourse was closed for repairs due to the tornado damage we also completed our renovations that had been planned prior to the tornado damage” said Lea.
That means a newly tiled concourse with better lighting and directories, along with new art installations.
Along with the repair work there will be a Schlafly Beer Bar and Grill, a Mediterranean Cafe and an expanded Starbucks.
American, Frontier and Cape Air will move their operations back to Concourse C on Sunday night.
