Man Charged With Having Weapon on High School Property

DUPO, Ill. (KMOX) – A 31 year old Dupo Illinois man faces several charges after investigators day he on school property with a semi-automatic pistol.   St. Clair County State’s Attorney Brendan F. Kelly says Jay Godfrey  faces one count of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, one count of Aggravated Battery, and two counts of Aggravated Assault.

Godfrey allegedly was sitting in a vehicle on the property of Dupo Community High School when he pointed the gun at two people on the parking lot.

There is no word on why he did that or if he knew the two individuals.  Bond was set at $25,000.  Godfrey remains in the St. Clair County Jail.   Godfrey faces up to 12 years in prison on all the charges.
