EAST ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – I-64 in the Metro East will be completely shut down this weekend between the I-64/70/55 split and Route 111 in East St. Louis. Its to remove bridges carrying 9th and 10th street traffic over I-64. That stretch of the Interstate will reopen by Monday morning.
There will be other major delays for motorists on I-64 in the Metro East. Beginning on Monday there will be lane restrictions, both East and West bound, between Illinois-111 and 157. Crews will be patching pavement during off-peak hours. The work should be complete by May first.
On the Missouri side, two lanes of eastbound Interstate 64 between Jefferson and 11th Street will close at 7 p.m. Friday and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday. The closure is necessary for bridge painting.
