Named for the best actor to ever graduate from The Priory in Town & Country, the 7th Annual Kevin Kline Awards were handed out Monday night, April 2nd on the stage of The Repertory Theater of St. Louis in Webster Groves. A crowd of approximately 400 people were in attendance.
The Kline Awards are given out under the banner of The Professional Theater Council of St. Louis. The hosting theater, The Rep, was the big winner with the most Kline Awards for the evening, seven. Those awards included a best director nod for Rep Artistic Director Steve Woolf for his direction of the dramatic play on painting and art that kicked off the current season, “Red.”
The New Jewish Theater collected the second most awards, six. Stages St. Louis won 5 awards. For a complete list of the winners in all of the 22 categories, click on the link below.
Joe Schulte, long time resident stage manager at The Muny and theater instructor at St. Louis University High School, was the recipient of the first Lifetime Achievement award. Schulte was introduced by The Muny’s President and CEO, Denny Reagan.
