Alligator Roundup in Kennett
Get Breaking News First
KENNETT, Mo. (AP) — Missouri seems an odd place for an alligator roundup, but authorities in one southeast Missouri town are on something of a gator hunt.
A man showed up in Kennett about two years ago selling reptiles. He sold about 50 alligators before police ran him out of town.
The surviving alligators are no longer cute little babies and Kennett Humane Officer Tina Petix is trying to collect them before people start turning them loose.
Petix says alligators are illegal to own in Kennett, but anyone who turns one in will not be charged. Officers simply want to gather up the gators before someone gets hurt.
