Sports on a Sunday Morning: Blues, NASCAR, Mozeliak, Masters & Jim Bouton
Congratulations to Ron Jacober for 25 years on the air at KMOX 1120 AM!!
The Blues will face the San Jose Sharks, who they swept during the season, beginning this week at Scottrade Center. Coming off a 3-2 win against the Dallas Stars to wrap up the 2011-12 regular season, head coach Ken Hitchcock was unable to join Ron Jacober due to a last-minute NHL meeting regarding the playoffs. In his stead, Chris Kerber ‘the Voice of the Blues’ to discuss the Central Division champions.
Greg Damon has the weekly NASCAR report. Ryan Newman was the winner at the Goody’s Fast Relief 500 last week, but was that the real story? Next week, listeners will hear Greg live from Texas Motor Speedway for the Samsung Mobile 500.
Cardinals GM John Mozeliak is finally back in St. Louis after some time in Florida plus Springfield. The Redbirds began the season 2-1, and will look for their first three-game series victory this afternoon at Miller Park in Milwaukee.
Dan Reardon checks in from Augusta National where the Masters should have an exciting conclusion that could see a few guys putting on the ‘green jacket’ after 18 holes. Saturday, fans were enthralled by the ‘back 9’ performance of Phil Mickelson. Will get his fourth jacket?
Former pitcher Jim Bouton is known on the field for his knuckle-ball, but also became an author writing the controversial baseball book Ball Four, which was a combination diary of his 1969 season and memoir of his years with the New York Yankees, Seattle Pilots, and Houston Astros. The famous non-fictional account is now becoming an e-book.
