Michael Collins
EDWARDSVILLE, Il. (KMOX)- An Edwardsville Police officer, who serves as a school district D.A.R.E. officer, is accused of taking videos of women while they were preparing for tanning sessions.
Police say that on April 3, a customer at the Image Sun Tanning Center in Glen Carbon saw Michael Collins, 46, videotaping her with his cell phone, over a wall, while she was getting ready to tan.
Officers confiscated Collins’ phone and State Police and FBI investigators say they have found videos of at least two other victims.
Collins is charged with felony unauthorized video recording and has been suspended with pay by the department. He’s free on his own recognizance.
According to a release from the City of Edwardsville, he has an unblemished performance record. Edwardsville Schools Superintendent Ed Hightower says the district never had any problems with Collins.
