EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KMOX) – Despite increasing efforts to reduce late night violence, a man was murdered outside an East St. Louis nightclub early Monday morning.

Mayor Alvin Parks says 31 year old Antyan Thomas was shot just after 2 a.m. outside Yogi and Jackie’s Bar and Grill at 1318 North Ninth Street.

Parks says the bar may have been open too late and in his capacity as liquor commissioner, has suspended the bar’s license pending a Thursday hearing.

This was the second weekend that extra police officers patrolled the city, with businesses cover the extra expenses.
